Temporary slide

As the temperature of the sliding interface increases, the coefficient of friction varies. This variation is unpredictable, and there exists no general trend except that at extremely high temperatures the coefficient may become very low (<0.15). This temporary loss in friction is referred to as fade (25). 

Even the smoothest surfaces are rough on a sub-microscopic scale. The contacting surfaces touch each other on the relatively few points only. Sliding of one surface over the other produces large forces at the contact points. In many cases plastic deformation will occur junctions will be welded together, so that shearing can take place even below the surface of the softer material. Sliding will cause periodic rupture of temporary junctions formed. 

The simplest procedure is to extract samples from an agitated suspension for less robust materials a procedure detailed in reference [3] may be used in which an air jet circulates the suspension through a sampling tube that can be closed and withdrawn to provide samples for analysis. After the temporary stem has been released by loosening the cramp of the stand, the stand is moved a little backward by sliding it on the desk. 

The pixel detector was inserted into CMS after the installation and cabling of the silicon strip detector had been completed. The BPIX detector fits into the small volume limited by the outer radius of the beam pipe at 2.9 cm and the inner radius of the first layer of the strip tracker at about 21 cm. A system with bending rails on top and bottom inside CMS had been designed to insert the pixel detector and the supply tubes along the beam pipe. A clearance of 7-8 mm to the beam pipe had been calculated in simulations and checked with the help of a design model. The transport box with the pixel detector was placed on an insertion table and the rail system inside the box was joint with the rail system inside CMS using temporary extension rails (see Fig. 8.14). In this way, the pixel detector could slide out of the transport box into its final position. At the end, the service lines were connected at the so-called patch panel 0 (PPO) to the detector infrastructure. 

Don t necessarily use your complete slide presentation as your handout. The reason Some slides in a presentation are meant to maintain attention, serve as transitions, or make a temporary point. Such slides do not necessarily convey useful information... 

Air current segregation, which often results in fluctuations in the dust content of the discharged material, can lead to severe downstream problems with equipment depending on fluidisation for their operation, such as air slides and volumetric feeding devices. Investigations carried out in aluminium plants have shown that the consequences of such periodic fluctuations in quality are anode effects and temporary shut down of distribution systems.
