Technology of Dyeing Polyamide

Dyeability of Polyamide Material. As outlined in Section 4.11.1, the dyeability of polyamide materials can vary over a wide range. The dye-binding capacity of a given PA material can be characterized by a saturation value by comparing dyeings at pH 4.7 with reference material, the amount of dye taken up being given as the fiber sum number 5V- The values lie between 1 and 3. 

Dyeing of Special Materials. Exceptional features in dyeing exist for certain articles. 

Stockings, tights, and socks are dyed either in drum-dyeing machines or on automatic apparatus (for stockings). In these machines the stockings or tights are drawn over aluminum forms, sprayed with dye liquor, and fixed. 

Belts for technical purposes (safety belts) can be dyed most efficiently by the pad steam process in continuous systems.
