Seal Chamber. The seal chamber can be a cylindrical or a tapered design. The tapered bore seal chamber shall have a minimum of a 4 deg taper open toward the pump impeller. 

A Cadillac hood assembly includes a complex-shaped SMC inner panel that is bonded to an SMC outer panel. The outer panel has a Class A finish. The hood surface has a four-sided, tapered design and includes steel hinges, brackets and the hood latch. Here is an example where SMC has the abhity to create high style, lower vehicle weight, reduce tooling costs and resist corrosion and denting. 

The iVsS design consisted of 20 hydrophones etched into the modified Chebyshev tapered design on a single sheet of voided (homopolymer) PVDF as shown in Rgure 4. Tb accomplish the objectives, the aperture width function of the modified Chebyshev tapered design was equivalent to the amplitude shading fiioctioo. 

Various designs are used schematics of some of these are shown in Fig. 90. The tapered design (h) is typical of control surface applications and was often favoured over the enclosed square edge (a) as it was easier to produce a consistently leak-free structure though, even here it proved to be difficult to obtain a good fit between core and the inner skin. This was eventually achieved by using the crushed-core design (c).
