Synthesis history

How Tc varies with x and the maximum solubility range (x) for a specific 3d metal differs from group to group. These differences simply arise from the synthesis history of the samples (47). We illustrate this point in Figure 9b where we show the variation of Tc as a function of x for a series of samples prepared at 970°C and 920°C. Note that increasing the annealing temperature increases the Tc dependence upon x and also reduces the solubility range. This is also... [Pg.326]

Amino acids are the main components of proteins. Approximately twenty amino acids are common constituents of proteins (1) and are called protein amino acids, or primary protein amino acids because they are found in proteins as they emerge from the ribosome in the translation process of protein synthesis (2), or natural amino acids. In 1820 the simplest amino acid, glycine, was isolated from gelatin (3) the most recendy isolated, of nutritional importance, is L-threonine which was found (4) in 1935 to be a growth factor of rats. The history of the discoveries of the amino acids has been reviewed... [Pg.269]

Finally, the importance of quinolinium salts to dye chemistry accounts for the long, productive history of their synthesis. The reaction of A/-methylformanihde with ketones, aldehydes, ketone enamines, or enol acetates in phosphoryl chloride leads to high yields of /V-methylquinolinium salts (60). [Pg.392]

One of the most interesting results of the zinc ferrite synthesis is the observation that the yield of the product is dependent on the early pressure history. This behavior is shown in Fig. 8.3, which plots the yield versus temperature for baratol explosive loading and for Composition B explosive loading. The difference between these loadings is that the initial pressure pulse amplitude is significantly greater with Composition B. Apparently, the early pressure history has an important conditioning effect for subsequent reactions. [Pg.183]
