Syntax formal grammar

Translation of chemical names into structures can in general be treated as a linguistic issue of a computerized syntactic and semantic analysis of systematic nomenclature as an artificial language. In order to achieve such an analysis, a formal grammar of lUPAC nomenclature must first be derived from the informal rules. This requires the creation of a dictionary of fragments, so-called morphemes, from which the names can be built, and the elucidation of appropriate syntax rules to govern... [Pg.1885]

Mery, B., Amblard, M., Durand, L, Retore, C. A case study of the convergence of mildly context-sensitive formalisms for natural language syntax from minimalist grammars to multiple context-free grammars. INRA Rapport de recherche p. nr 6042 (2006)... [Pg.127]

The formal system has been used in work (see [16,18]) on the theoretical aspects of computational syntax-semantics interface, by covering major syntactic constructions of human language, in Generalized Constraint-Based Lexicalized Grammar (CBLG). Further work is ongoing in the following directions ... [Pg.168]

The job of the syntax analyzer is to read the stream of words produced by the scanner and decide whether or not that stream of words forms a sentence in the source language. To do this, the compiler needs a formal description of the source language, usually called a grammar. Informally, a grammar is just a collection of rales for deriving... [Pg.14]
