Sustainability overview

Because the major causes of blast generation in vapor cloud explosions are reasonably well understood today, we can approach the overview of experimental research more systematically by treating and interpreting the experiments in groups of roughly similar arrangements. Furthermore, some attention is given to experimental research into the conditions necessary for direct initiation of a detonation of a vapor cloud and the conditions necessary to sustain such a detonation. 

There are multiple mechanisms known to underlie the neuronal cell damage associated with injury or disease that at least theoretically could be targeted for pharmaceutical intervention. Currently however, there is no clinically available therapeutic agent that can reliably protect the brain from progressive neurodegenerative processes for sustained periods. Due to the extensive amount of preclinical research that has been conducted in recent years, there is a basis for optimism, however, it appears likely that some of these approaches will result in clinically effective therapeutic modalities in the near future. A short overview of some of the investigational approaches to combat neurodegeneration appears below.

Also, the use of coproducts has to be addressed to improve the process economics and in view of the sustainability of using this natural resource. The earth is constructed by all elements in the periodic table. Mapping of the spatial distribution of nearly all the elements in the periodic table will get a new overview of the earth surface construction for better stewarship of sustainable environmental management with sustainable mineral resources development. 

In conclusion, this book constitutes the first step of IDECAT in developing a coherent framework of activities to create a bio-based and sustainable society through catalysis. This book is at the same time an updated overview of the state-of-the-art and a roadmap that defines new directions, opportunities and needs for R D.
