As further baekgroimd for the survey, Westat eondueted telephone and in-person interviews with hospital nurses, staff and physieians to assess whether the survey dimensions eovered all relevant aspects of patient safety culture or whether any new dimensions were needed. Based on these interviews, there was a general eonsensus that the draft dimensions and items appeared to measure key patient safety eoneepts.

Mass-transfer coefficients seem to vary as the 0.7 exponent on the power input per unit volume, with the dimensions of the vessel and impeller and the superficial gas velocity as additional factors. A survey of such correlations is made by van t Riet (Ind Eng. Chem Proc Des Dev., IS, 3.57 [1979]). Table 23-12 shows some of the results. 

The soil orientation survey consisted of three east-west traverses across the known areas of mineralization on the property at Pico Prieto and Venado and three soil profiles in the Venado area. The primary purpose of the soil traverses was to determine the spacing required to find a deposit of similar dimensions and style of mineralization, and to determine the optimum soil size fraction and pathfinder elements for these styles of mineralization. The purpose of the soil profile samples was to determine whether metal concentrations vary with soil horizon and depth. 

As an example of the use of single-crystal photographs for identification, vitamin B4 was shown by Bernal and Crowfoot (1933 b) to be identical with adenine hydrochloride. The extensive survey of the crystallography of substances of the sterol group by Bernal, Crowfoot, and Fankuchen (1940) gives a vast amount of information on these crystals, including unit cell dimensions this paper also contains a discussion of the identification problems in this group. 

Theoretical methods are surveyed, followed by data on molecular dimensions obtained from X-ray diffraction or microwave spectroscopy. The various types of NMR spectroscopic characteristics are then surveyed, including H, 13C and nitrogen NMR spectroscopy. This is followed by a discussion of UV and visible and then IR, mass and photoelectron spectroscopy. Each of the spectroscopic sections deals with both the various parent rings and the effect of substituents. 

Raw data gathered from seismic surveys must be processed to compensate for and to remove a variety of distortions unwanted noises created by weathered near-surface rocks, normal time delays, and echoing by rebounding acoustic waves—to provide the clearest possible image of the strata below. Computers can restore these distortions in a fraction of the time that was formerly required to adjust the data painstakingly by hand. Advanced techniques not only permit presentations in three dimensions, but also in color, and to create contour maps and models of subterranean features. However, even with the use of sophisticated tools, there remains a large measure of uncertainty. History has shown repeatedly that a prospective area rejected by one petroleum firm has been accepted by another and proved to be successful. 

From a technical standpoint, the objective of a plant survey is to discover the facts concerning the engineering design, function, dimensions, metallurgy, layout, and operation of the cooling system, including full details on current water treatment products and services supplied. 

Numerous volcanic centres occur on the seafloor of the Sicily Channel (Fig. 8.1). Calanchi et al. (1989) recognised at least ten recent submarine volcanoes of various dimensions, mostly located along NW-SE regional faults. Some of these volcanoes have erupted during historical times others are covered by undisturbed Pliocene-Quaternary sediments and have been detected by seismic profiles and magnetic survey (Allan and Morelli 1971).
