Solid state NMR spectra showing single-quantum excitation of the (1 = 7/2) central and six satellite transitions were obtained for polycrystalline V2O5 [Pg.310]

75 13c NMR data, obtained as a function of temperature with MAS and either CP or direct polarization, have been reported to study acetone adsorbed on dry silica gel. It has been concluded that the main linewidth contributions, which increase at lower temperatures, are a dispersion of chemical shifts in the hydrogen-bonded state, associated with the inhomogeneous character of the silica surface, the interference between MAS and motional averaging of the CSA, and chemical exchange broadening. [Pg.269]

Using CPMAS NMR, the first evidence has been obtained for -pentane carbonylation with carbon monoxide into C-6 aldehydes, ketones and carboxylic acids on a sulfated zirconia catalyst.  [Pg.269]

ID and 2D VT MAS NMR studies on the adsorption of methane on zeolite HY at temperatures ranging from 295 K to 135 K have been presented.  [Pg.270]

Sonochemically prepared octadecyltrihydrosilane (CH3(CH2)i7SiH3)-coated titania particles have been characterized using [Pg.270]

In situ NMR has been applied to understand the chemistry of acetone on the silico-aluminophosphate catalyst HSAPO-34. The results of this investigation are interpreted in the context of methanol-to-olefin chemistry on HSAPO-34. [Pg.270]

More recently, Silva et a/.447,448 have found that the temperature coefficients of dEa /dT for a number of stepped Au surfaces do not fit into the above correlation, being much smaller than expected. These authors have used this observation to support their view of the hydrophilicity sequence the low 9 (rs0/97 on stepped surfaces occurs because steps randomize the orientation of water dipoles. Besides being against common concepts of reactivity in surface science and catalysis, this interpretation implies that stepped surfaces are less hydrophilic than flat surfaces. According to the plot in Fig. 25, an opposite explanation can be offered the small BEod0/dT of stepped surfaces is due to the strong chemisorption energy of water molecules on these surfaces. [Pg.184]

Work function, a quantity of great importance in surface science and catalysis, plays a key role in solid state electrochemistry and in electrochemical promotion. As will be shown in Chapter 7 the work function of the gas-exposed surface of an electrode in a solid electrolyte cell can be used to define an absolute potential scale in solid state electrochemistry. [Pg.205]
