Surface geophysical survey

Five cost-effective surface geophysical survey techniques have been described which are widely used in groundwater site investigations. [Pg.140]

During the arsenic sampling, the District of Columbia found a pit of chemical glassware. They asked the Corps to remove the items, which they did. Arsenic on the surface soil was 3350 ppm. The District thrai asked the Corps to conduct a geophysical survey of several areas on the American University campus. Several disposal pits and empty shells have been found. [Pg.211]

CASE 2 - Evaluation of the importance of structural anisotropies (fractures, faults, cataclastic bands) and their persistence (horizontal and vertical) measured at the surface (structural-geological survey) and their mapping (integrated evaluation of geophysical data and structural-geological data)... [Pg.10]

Relationship between median wet deposition ofN (N03 + NH4+) and median surface-water N (N03 + NH4+) concentrations for physiograph-ical districts within the National Stream Survey that have minimal agricultural activity. [Subregions are Poconos-C at skills (ID), Southern Blue Ridge Province (2As), Valley and Ridge Province (2Bn), Northern Appalachians (2Cn), Ozarks—Ouachitas (2D), Southern Appalachians (2X), Piedmont (3A), mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain (3B), and Florida (3C)]. The significance of any environmental impact of petroleum production is affected by the stage of the producing process. Land exploration by aerial surveying, or by the use of aerial or surface-based geophysical techniques such... [Pg.580]

Forester Electromagnetic Detector A test conducted at the Comhusker Army Ammunition Plant (CAAP) required unexploded ordnance (UXO) support in order to investigate the subsurface in areas where ordnance disposal activities may have occurred. An UXO geophysical team used the Forester Electromagnetic Detector (MK 26 Ordnance Locator), Eagle 2, White 6000 for both surface sweeps and subsurface surveys. [Pg.179]
