Geophysical surveys

Such licenses are legal documents awarded on application to companies which give them certain exclusive rights to carry out exploration and/or production work. They usually require companies to carry out stated geophysical surveys and drilling operations within a specific period of time. 

Geophysics survey will provide and describe geological structures, and in some cases hydrogeology parameter (i.e., total dissolved solid, TDS).

Tameapa property has been confined to the 12 km area surrounding the Pico Prieto and Venado prospect areas. Exploration by MinCore and previous operators has included geologic mapping, geochemical and geophysical surveys, and 43,000 m of drilling in 144 diamond drill holes. MinCore plans to systematically explore the entire property area during the 2009 and 2010 field seasons.

During Phase I, a geological survey was carried out from November 1997 to April 1998 at the brownfield site (ILVA and Etemit areas). During the survey, shallow and deep cores were collected reworked and undisturbed soil was sampled and groundwater samples were collected. In addition, a detailed geophysical survey was undertaken to establish a terrain lithostratigraphy, to determine the mechanical properties of the terrains, and to map the water table. 

Determination of the presence of contaminant plumes and their flow direction and movement rate is commonly required at hazardous waste sites. The first determination is whether leakage from the hazardous waste site is occurring. If the existence of a plume is confirmed, its direction and extent should be established and identified. A preliminary geophysical survey can aid in better defining the contaminant plume, leading to more effective monitoring with a smaller number of monitoring wells.
