More recently, the interplay of tunnel dynamics with electromagnetic radiation has also attracted interest. It has been shown theoretically that it is possible to observe the phenomenon of super-radiance in SMMs, with population inversion caused by the application of a longitudinal field. The first experiments in this direction have now been performed. ... 

This phenomenon of super-radiance is used in the photon-echo technique for high-resolution spectroscopy to measure population and phase decay times, expressed by the longitudinal and transverse relaxation times Ti and T2, see (7.1). This technique is analogous to the spin-echo method in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) [904]. Its basic principle may be understood in a simple model, transferred from NMR to the optical region [905]. 

If the different atoms have slightly different absorption frequencies a> = ( 2 -Ei)/h (for example, because of the different velocities in a gas), the phase factors for different atoms are different for t 2T, and the macroscopic fluorescence intensity is the incoherent superposition (7.30) from all atomic contributions. However, for r = 2T the phase factor is zero for all atoms, which implies that all atomic dipole moments are in phase, and super-radiance is observed. 

This implies that the fluorescence intensity /fi(0 times t < Tq, where all excited atoms oscillate still in phase, is N times larger than in the incoherent case (Dicke super-radiance) [12.64]. 

If these super-real visions involve wave phenomena, then the external world takes on a radiance and a revelation that is staggeringly clear. The experienced insight that the world of phenomena exists in the form of waves, electronic images, can produce a sense of illuminated power. Everything is experienced as consciousness. 

Well-prepared persons need not experience Second Bardo hell visions at all. Right from the beginning they can pass into paradisiacal states led by heroes, heroines, angels and super-spirits. "They will merge into rainbow radiance there will be sun-showers, sweet scent of incense in the air, music in the skies, radiances."...
