Summary of Minor Effects

In fact, the only truly adjustable parameters in industrial SO2 oxidation are catalyst bed [Pg.207]

In summary, we have found that the optimum (within the limits of this study) a for shelf-life is 0.54. In addition, the dryer inlet and exit air temperatures had no effect upon oil retention and perhaps only a minor effect upon shelf-life. If there is a significant effect it is that the higher inlet air temperature actually yielded a better shelf-life. A higher temperature differential means that dryer throughput also is increased and operating costs are cut. The more product that can be produced per hour, the lower the production costs. A larger temperature differential also results in a higher final product moisture. [Pg.84]

The Patient Information Leaflet (PIL), different from the Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC), was introduced as early as the mid-1970s in Hungary. A detailed NIP Guideline was issued in 1990,2 years earlier that the corresponding 92/ 27/EEC Directive (Paal 1996c). However, there were only minor differences in their content. In Hungary, for example, label texts should not be repeated on the PIL and not all excipients, only those that may have an adverse effect on certain patients, should be listed, the address of the MA holder were not necessarily to be specified, etc. [Pg.185]

For a summary of the studies of the pharmacokinetic interactions of nevirapine and various protease inhibitors, see Table 21.3 , (p.786). Most protease inhibitors do not appear to affect the levels of nevirapine, although some caused a minor to modest increase. Nevirapine is an inducer of the cytochrome P450 isoenzyme CYP3A4, and so would be expected to reduce the levels of some of the protease inhibitors (see Table 21.2 , (p.773)), sometimes to levels that are unlikely to be effective. Low-dose ritonavir has been used to boost the levels of some protease inhibitors when they were given with nevirapine. For a summary of the manufacturers recommended regimens for use with nevirapine see Table 21.4 , (below). If nevirapine is used with protease inhibitors, therapy should be closely monitored. For studies suggesting that increased doses of lopina-... [Pg.789]

Summary The recurring theme in the above examples is that a minor delocalizing interaction can be inactive at the most stable ground state geometry defined by an alternative stronger interaction that moves the system perpendicularly to the desired reaction coordinate. The stereoelectronic readjustment requires a conformational change and comes with a thermodynamic cost. When such readjustment is unnecessary, the role of stereoelectronic effects is revealed clearly and their accelerating power is ntihzed fully. [Pg.267]

Throughout this summary we have neglected the effect of dispersion on the overall transport of mass and heat. This is due to the fact that if dispersion is included, dispersion tensors must be determined before the equation can be solved. This can be done by solving the appropriate transport equation within a unit cell. Because a unit cell cannot be defined in most reinforcements used in polymer matrix composites, however, dispersion tensors cannot be accurately determined, so we have left dispersion effects out of our equations. In general, we anticipate dispersion to play a minor role in the IP, AP, and RTM processes. This assumption can be checked, however, by evaluating the dispersion terms using an approach similar to [16] where experiments and correlations are used to determine the importance of dispersion. [Pg.178]

Stiles et al.43 found artemisinin to inhibit respiration in Lemna minor, but the compound strongly stimulates oxygen uptake by lettuce root tips.6 All mitotic phases of onion root tips are inhibited by the compound, and it induces a low level of abnormal mitotic figures.6 Dayan et al.6 conducted a battery of simple physiological tests with several artemisinin analogues. All phytotoxic compounds had similar effects, indicating a common mode of action. In summary, the mode of action results with artemisinin as a phytotoxin are not definitive. [Pg.220]
