Oxidation of sulphuric solutions of anionic surfactants was considered by Panizza and co-workers (Panizza et al. 2005) which compared the performance of ternary Ti-Ru-Sn oxide and BDD electrodes during oxidative treatment of synthetic and real wastewater containing sodium dodecyl benzenesulfonate. The authors demonstrated that the anionic surfactant was mineralised at active Ti-Ru-Sn electrodes only when a certain amount of chlorides were added to the solution. The process mainly occurred in homogeneous reaction by means of the oxidant species originated by chlorides, since it was not influenced by the stirring velocity of the solution. 

Combining the cyclic voltammogram, which provides the number of surface atoms, with fitting of the time-dependent impedance spectra obtained after adding methanol to the sulphuric solution (using Equations 6.41 and 6.44) produces the kinetic parameters of methanol oxidation. Figure 6.62 shows these values at different potentials. 

Similar results are observed in perchloric acid in the absence of any deliberately added reductant, the rate of disproportionation being increased considerably by UV irradiation [88]. Pu(III) is also converted to Pu(IV) by UV irradiation in 0.5-5.5 mol dm 3 HC1, the reaction occurring in both air- and C02-purged solutions, the process being somewhat slower in the latter [89]. Behaviour of Pu in sulphuric solutions is the same as that in hydrochloric. 

LIME SULPHUR SOLUTION. Lime sulphur solution is one of the most important fungicides in organic fruit growing. A thinning effect was observed in some trials. Use of 20-40 kg/ha (2,0-4.0%) at full bloom is recommended. Cultivar sensitivity and possible side effects on beneficial fauna should be determined by careful experimentation.
