Structural characterization, SLSs

Structural characterization of block copolymer aggregates by dynamic and static light scattering (DLS and SLS) in combination with small angle neutron scattering (SANS) at variable ionic strength and pH in the solution enables one to discriminate between frozen and dynamic (equilibrium) micelles. In particular, SANS provides direct information about the core size and shape because of relatively low scattering density of the corona. 

More recently, Shimoi (24) and his co-workers have prepared and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction a number of transition metal carbonyls such as Cr(CO)4L, Mo(CO)4L, and W(CO)4L where L is the didentate ligand H4B2 2P(CH3)3. They have also characterized Cr(CO)sL and W(C0)5L where L is monodentate H4B2 2P(CH3)3. They also prepared a number of other monodentate ligand carbonyls such as Cr(CO)j(H3B Base) and W(CO)5(H3B Base) where bases attached to BH3 were P(CH3)3, N(CHj)3, and P(CjHj)3. Complexes of stable diatomic ions and molecules (e.g. Oj, Nj, CO, CN ) are well known and have been extensively studied. In recent years a number of metal complexes containing one or more coordinated Sl units have been prepared and characterized by X-ray structure determination. Complexes with 82 units can be formed for many metals under a variety of conditions and coordinated 82 ligands exhibit a rich chemistry. 

Ductile properties such as crack pattern and deformations prefiguring the nearing failure are important characteristics regarding the fracture behavior of structural concrete members. The tests demonstrated that in general TRC members have a distinctive ductile behavior although the stress-strain-behavior of the fabrics is linear-elastic until a brittle tensile failure. While the deformations under service loads (SLS) are rather small, the load-bearing behavior of the specimens is characterized by a distinctive stabilized crack pattern as well as high deformations in ultimate limit state (ULS) of L/30 - L/20. 

Casein is the major component (80 per cent) of milk, with molecular weights between 1 and 20kDa and includes four distinct types a-sl, a-s2, (3, and k. Casein is the predominant phosphoprotein that precipitates at pH 4.6 (20°C) and is characterized by an open, random coil structure. By treating acid-precipitated caseins with alkali solution caseinates are produced. Both caseins and caseinates form transparent films from aqueous solutions without any treatment because of their random coil nature and numerous hydrogen bonds. Caseins have shown to be useful in adhesives, micro encapsulation, food ingredients, and pharmaceuticals [31].
