The addition of a mixing element of the types described in Chapter 9 will often enable the extruder to produce good striation free film from the same polymer and colour masterbatch blend which otherwise produces film with coloured stripes. 

The quasi-stationary mosaic-striped structures often observed in bromate or glycolytic oscillators must be related to convective patterns [5]. Moreover the striations could induce the localization of center waves.
