Fertilizers straight

Mixed Fertilizer. The raw materials used to produce mixed fertilizers include inorganic acids, solutions, double nutrient fertilizers, and all types of straight fertilizers. The choice of raw materials depends on the specific nitrogen-phosphate-potassium (N-P-K) formulation to be produced and on the cost of the different materials from which they can be made. [Pg.415]

Straight fertilizer A fertilizer that contains only one nutrient. [Pg.547]

What is the difference between a straight fertilizer and a mixed fertilizer ... [Pg.548]

Bulk blending of granular components is a process well known in the fertilizer business where it is common to blend various proportions of straight fertilizers to yield appropriate N,P,K grades for specific applications. A standard rule of thumb for fertilizer blending is to maintain a component median diameter difference of less than 5% [11]. Consideration of the component size distribution or spread is also important to consider when comparing properties of materials intended for blending [12]. [Pg.242]

Fertilizers that contain only one nutrient are called straight fertilizers. Potassium chloride for potassium is an example of a straight fertilizer. Those containing a mixture of the three primary nutrients are called complete, or mixed, fertilizers. The primary nutrients are absorbed by plant roots as simple inorganic ions nitrogen in the form of nitrates (NOp, phosphorus as phosphates (HgPO or HPO ), and potassium as the ion. Organic... [Pg.494]

Ammonia can he apphed direcdy to the sod or converted into numerous agrichemicals (Figure 19.7). Two common straight fertilizers for nitrogen are ammonium nitrate (NH NO ) and urea. A slurry of water, urea, and ammonium nitrate is often apphed to crops under the name liquid nitrogen. Such a solution can contain up to 30% nitrogen and is easy to store and apply. [Pg.496]

Ammonium nitrate (NH N03(s)) isa common straight fertilizer. It decomposes at high temperature to produce Ng, HgO, and O. Handling ammonium nitrate has led to accidental explosions. [Pg.510]

Straight fertilizers Contain only one nutrient Stratosphere The region of Earth s atmosphere that extends from the troposphere to an altitude of about 50 km (—31 mi)... [Pg.572]

Mixed Fertilizer (Australia) - The term applied to a fertilizer that is a physical mixture of two or more of the straight fertilizers. Mbted fertilizer may be powdered or granulated. [Pg.7]

In Australia, bulk blends are considered to be mixtures of two or more compounds or compounds and straight fertilizers, preferably in a pelletized (granular) form. [Pg.8]

Moreover, the above materials can be used individually as straight fertilizers but most of the time several feedstocks are mixed together to obtain a given grade for that reason they are called mixed fertilizers. Commercial mixed fertilizers are usually categorized into grades... [Pg.961]

These parameters also influence the suitability of storage, freedom from dust, and strewabUity of the product. For example, ammonium sulfate, which is used as a straight fertilizer, has to be sufficiently coarsely crystallized so that when it is strewn it does not remain on the leaves of the plants. Other crystallized products have to be crystallized as finely as possible in order to positively influence their dissolving behavior. An important difference between vacuum evaporation and vacuum crystallization is the fact that in vacuum crystallization the supersaturated solution tends to induce incrustations on all solid surfaces. The design and layout of a vacuum crystallizer has to be adapted to this, otherwise the cost effectiveness of the process will be jeopardized by the lack of availability. Not all evaporator types can therefore be used in vacuum crystallization. Furthermore, the requirements placed on the granulometry and purity of the crystallized masses are also determined by consumer and market customs, and frequently also by the requirements of the follow-up processes. [Pg.204]
