Storage weighing

The legs of the platform can be used as settling tanks or temporary storage facilities for crude oil where oil is exported via tankers, or to allow production to continue in the event of a pipeline shut down. The Brent D platform in the North Sea weighs more than 200,000 tonnes and can store over a million barrels of oil. Topside modules are either installed offshore by lift barges, or can be positioned before the platform is floated out. 

SoHd carbon dioxide is produced ia blocks by hydrauHc presses. Standard presses produce blocks 25 x 25 x 25 cm, 50 x 25 x 25 cm, or 50 X 50 X 25 cm. A 25-cm cube of dry ice weighs 23 kg, allowiag for about 10% sublimatioa loss duriag storage and shipment (some 27-kg blocks are also produced). Dry ice is about 1.7 times as dense as water ice, whereas its net refrigerating effect on a weight basis is twice that of water ice. Automation and improved operating cycles have iacreased dry-ice press capacities so that one 50 x 50 x 30 cm press can produce more than thirty metric tons of dry-ice blocks per day (42). 

At this stage of manufacture, chocolate may be stored for future use in bulk Hquid form if usage is expected to be within one to two weeks, or at 43—50°C in a hot water jacketed agitated tank or in soHd block form where it can be stored for as long as 6 to 12 months. Blocks typically weigh between 3 and 30 kg. Storage conditions for block chocolate should be cool and dry, ie, 7 to 18°C and 40 to 45% relative humidity. If chocolate has been stored in block form, it can be remelted to temperatures up to 50°C and then processed in the same manner as freshly made Hquid chocolate. 

CViange-Can Mixers Change-can mixers are vertical batch mixers in which the container is a separate unit easily placed in or removed from the frame of the machine. They are available in capacities of about 4 to 1500 L (1 to 400 gal). The commonest type is the pony mixer. Separate cans allow the batch to be carefully measured or weighed before being brought to the mixer itself. The mixer also may serve to transpoi the finished batch to the next operation or to storage. The identity of each batch is preseiwed, and weight checks are easily made. 

Important auxiliary equipment in a flotation plant includes feeder and controls, sampling and weighing devices, slurry pumps, filter and thickeners for dewatering solids, reagent storage and makeup equipment, and analytical devices for process control.

The substance should be unaltered in air during weighing this condition implies that it should not be hygroscopic, oxidised by air, or affected by carbon dioxide. The standard should maintain an unchanged composition during storage.
