Storage of amines

The actual storage of amines evidently occurs mainly in the cytoplasmic granules. In animal cells it was found that dopamine, noradre-naline, adrenaline, 948-50,977, 1470-3)... 

Ammonia.. The most rehable results for ammonia are obtained from fresh samples. Storage of acidified samples at 4°C is the best way to minimi2e losses if prompt analysis is impossible. The sample acidity is neutrali2ed prior to analysis. Ammonia concentrations of 10 -0.5 M can be determined potentiometricaHy with the gas-sensing, ion-selective electrode. Volatile amines are the only known interferents. 

Ethereal solutions of adipyl azide are quite safe, but the free azide is somewhat explosive and should not be isolated. If storage of an intermediate is desired, the azide should be converted to the urethane by the procedure given below. The urethane is quite stable to storage also, the procedure via the urethane gives improved yields in some amine syntheses. 

Prenyl amine (66) was long used in the treatment of angina pectoris, in which condition it was believed to act by inhibiting the uptake and storage of catecholamines in heart tissue. Droprenilamine (69), an analogue in which the phenyl ring is reduced, acts as a coronary vasodilator. One of several syntheses involves simple reductive alkylation of 1,1-diphenyl-propylamine (67) with cyclohexyl acetone (68)... 

C) 10 g of 6-chloromethyl-morphanthridine are passed into 150 ml of a solution of methyl-amine in benzene (10%). After storage of the solution for 20 hours at 0° to 5°C the methyl-amine hydrochloride formed is sucked off and the filtrate evaporated to dryness. There remains as residue 11 g of crude 6-methylaminomethyl-morphanthridine.

The In Salah gas project took up operation in Algeria during summer 2004. There as well, a C02-rich natural gas is treated to reach commercial concentrations of C02. After separation in an amine plant, the C02 is stored in the gas-containing reservoir structure. Using the same structure for production and storage of course involves the risk of a breakthrough of C02 into the production wells.

Several of the neurotransmitters are small-molecule amines such as dopamine, serotonin, epinephrine, and norepinephrine. These neurotransmitters are synthesized in the cytoplasm of the axon terminal and subsequently transported into and stored within the synaptic vesicles. The amino acids glycine and glutamic acid are normal constituents of proteins and are present in abundance in the axons. These are also stored in synaptic vesicles. Each electrical impulse that arrives at the presynaptic side of a synapse will cause only a small minority of the synaptic vesicles to fuse with the plasma membrane and discharge their contents. The remaining synaptic vesicles remain, waiting for subsequent electrical impulses. At the same time, neurotransmitter synthesis continues, as does their storage in synaptic vesicles. This tends to restore the full complement of amine neurotransmitters at the axon terminal. 

Reserpine, an alkaloid from the Rauwolfia plant, abolishes the vesicular storage of biogenic amines (NE, dopamine = DA, serotonin = 5-HT) by inhibiting an ATPase required for the vesicular amine pump. Several mechanisms exist to explain the etiology of affective disorders all based on the hypothesis that certain levels of amine neurotransmitters (e.g., norepinephrine - NE, serotonin - 5-HT) and receptor sensitivity are necessary for normal mood. There is ample evidence that depression occms if receptors are insensitive or if amine synthesis, storage or... 

Reserpine also interferes with the neuronal storage of a variety of central transmitter amines such that significant depletion of norepinephrine, dopamine, and 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) occurs. This central transmitter depletion is responsible for the sedation and other CNS side effects associated with reserpine therapy. The depletion of brain amines also may contribute to the antihypertensive effects of reserpine. 

A diesel fuel stabilizer containing a blend of amines, polyamines, and alkyl ammonium alkyl phosphate as specified under MIL-S-53021 is recommended for federal diesel fuel oil. This stabilizer is to be used at a treat rate of 25 lb/1,000 barrels. It is not intended for use in routine applications, but for situations where increased stability protection is required. Typical applications include fueled equipment undergoing long-term storage in a warehouse or depot, prepositioned equipment or equipment maintained in a high-temperature environment.
