Stoichiometric CO Reduction Model Reactions

A recognised role for organometallic chemistry is to provide stable models for mechanistic species, thus allowing structural studies to define precisely the geometrical features of the interaction between ligand and transition metal atom. 

In an effort to provide some understanding of the CO reduction, a number of laboratories arc seeking examples of homogeneous stoichiometric reactions wliich, alternatively, may lead to catalytic processes. A variety of complexes have been synthesized containing partially-reduced CO fragments such as formyl.
