Staple gun

The general assembly of the cabinet, moulded front, and working parts of the TV followed conventional procedures. That is, the cabinet itself consisted of PVC-faced chipboard with a 3 mm recessed strip around the inner front edges to accommodate tabs in the front moulding the tabs were secured to the cabinet using a pneumatic stapling gun.

Powered hand tools are used in warehouses as a matter of course. Hand drills, power saws, banding machines, and staple guns are typical power tools. Here are a few notes of interest regarding the safety of workers when using this equipment. 

Protruding nails in pallet boards are very common and cause hundreds of foot injuries each year from employees stepping on them when stepped on. In one case, a warehouse employee was using a nail with a large head on it to secure heavy-duty cardboard to pallets. This process created a storage container. When nails fell onto the floor, they usually landed point up. In one year sixteen foot injuries occurred from employees stepping on nails. Supervisors finally saw the need to use a staple gun to secure the cardboard to the pallet. 

A level of automation using a twin gun system can be achieved by applying the reinforcement as a roving, which is chopped in one gun and the cut staple combined with resin that has been admixed in the correct proportions in the other gun. The admixing in the gun can be carried out, with latest equipment, within the gun to curtail emissions, and the chopped reinforcement/mixed resin spluttered onto the mold. Nails and staples are applied by simply hammering or stapling. Other fasteners may be inserted by drill press, ultrasonics, air or electric gun, hand tool. Special molding—that is, molded-in-hole— may be required.
