Stachyose preparation

However, GrootWassink and Fleming64 reported a higher rate of hydrolysis of stachyose than raffinose for a commercial preparation of /3-D-fructofuranosidase of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. [Pg.360]

In his preparation of manninotriose from crystalline stachyose, Onuki followed the procedure worked out by Tanret, and obtained a product with somewhat higher optical rotation [a]26n + 174.57° (c 0.5, in water). [Pg.171]

On realizing the similarity of his manneotetrose to stachyose, Tanret undertook15 the preparation of stachyose from Stachys tuberifera, in order to compare the properties of the two materials. [Pg.175]

The rather detailed accounts of the earlier preparations of stachyose have been presented, in the first place, because the reader may wish to prepare some stachyose for himself at some time and he will want to know what methods are available, and in the second place, that the reader will better understand why stachyose has been (and for that matter, still is) a rare sugar, notwithstanding the abundance in which it occurs in Nature. [Pg.176]

The unusual utility of this adsorbent has been demonstrated by its role in the preliminary isolation of isomaltose, maltotriose, maltotetra-086, = and panose > from the hydrolytic products of starch in the preparation of n-xylo-biose, -trio.se, -tetraose, -pentaose, -hexaose, and -heptaose from a partially hydrolyzed xylan in the resolution of bi-molecular dianhydrides of L-sorbose < and D-fructose < > in an improved procedure for the preparation of stachyose and in the preparation of a series of maltodextrins (as high as maltoheptaose) from the partial, acid... [Pg.63]

A patent owned by E.I. du Pont (Crank and Kerr, 1999) described procedures for preparing isoflavone-rich soy protein products with desirable flavor and functionality. A low-stachyose soybean variety was dehulled, flaked (0.25-0.6 mm), defatted by hexane and desolventized by vacuum to yield a 90 PDI (protein dispersibility index) of soymeal. A water extraction at 80°C was carried out for 6-10 min, and it was then cooled to 40-45°C by adding more water. The extract after centrifugation was neutralized and spray-dried. The product contained 2.5 mg/g isoflavone. [Pg.58]

Preparation. Manninotriose is most readily obtained by partial hydrolysis of stachyose, either by acid or invertase (14 ). [Pg.515]

Specificity studies of yeast invertase are complicated by the difficulty of preparing jS-fructofuranosides, and the studies have been limited to the naturally occurring di- and oligosaccharides containing /S-fructofuranoside residues. Sucrose, raffinose, and stachyose have such residues in an unsubstituted condition (terminal positions) whereas melezitose has a substituted /3-fructofuranoside residue (central position). Inulin is a polymeric p-... [Pg.592]

Fatty acid polyesters have been prepared by the weU established method of transesterification in the presence of sodium metal from the peracetates of D-glucitol and trehalose, of methyl glucoside, methyl galactoside, octyl glucoside, and stachyose, and of sucrose. The process for formation and purification of sucrose polyesters has been optimised to furnish pure products in >99% yield. ... [Pg.89]

Sugar esters can also be made by nonenzymatic methods. In a systematic investigation of the effect of the number of condensed hexose units on surfactant properties, monododecyl esters of glucose, sucrose (2 sugar units), raffinose (3 units) and stachyose (4 units) were prepared by organic synthesis... [Pg.320]
