Several key enzymes in this pathway can be activated through DNA transcriptional regulation of SREBP (sterol regulatory element-binding proteins 1 and 2) [12]. Members of a family of nuclear transcription factors called sterol regulatory element-binding proteins (SREBP) are responsible for the regulation of these cholesterol feedback mechanisms.
