Special Toxicological Properties

Xandiene dyes have not exhibited health or safety properties warranting special precautions however, standard chemical labeling instmctions are required. Toxicological properties of important dyes are Hsted in Table 2 (12). [Pg.407]

Chlorophenols may contain a variety of by-products and contaminants such as other chlorophenols, polychlorinated phenoxy-phenols and neutral compounds like polychlorinated benzenes and diphenyl ethers, PCDDs and PCDFs (39). Some of these contaminants may also occur in chlorophenol derivatives like phenoxy acids, other pesticides and hexachlorophene. The possible presence of PCDDs and PCDFs is of special significance because of their extraordinary toxicological properties. [Pg.327]

Cell-based biosensors offer opportunities to detect, screen, and characterize toxicological properties of toxins, environmental chemicals, and pharmaceuticals with high throughput, excellent sensitivity, and low cost. Flowever, the use of cells requires special attention. [Pg.716]

Toxicological properties of intermediates and impurities often dictate safe handling considerations on scale, as routine laboratory safety techniques may not transfer easily to the pilot plant and larger scales. Information on the safety of purchased chemicals may be found in the relevant MSDS. Intermediates prepared during processing may be hazardous to operators, and special handling may be... [Pg.20]

Sulfur tetrafluoride was among the first reagents to be used for the direct substitution of hydroxy groups by fluorine. Good yields are only achieved with relatively acidic alcohols, such as nitro alcohols, polyhalo alcohols and hydroxy carbonyl compounds. The fluorination of simple aliphatic alcohols with sulfur tetrafluoride results in side reactions, such as formation of ethers, hence fluorination using other methods (vide infra) is preferred. Moreover, sulfur tetrafluoride cannot be handled without special pressure apparatus and requires precautions to be taken due to its physical and toxicological properties, hence it is, nowadays, frequently replaced by other reagents, but it is still in use for relatively inert substrates (see Vol.ElOa, p 321 ff, also Houben-Weyl. Vol. 5/3. pp 84-86). [Pg.82]

Characterize different organometallic compounds and their toxicological properties with special attention to carbonyl species. [Pg.295]

If compounds with such special analytical or toxicological properties appear indoors, complaints may be reported even if the GC/MS-measured TVOC value in indoor air is found to be low. The EU-EC A working group recommended that the GC/MS procedure is supplemented with additional methods if such special compounds can be expected. It follows that the investigator must consider this possibility and report the conclusion of such considerations together with the TVOC results. [Pg.310]
