Spatio-selectivity

ChiUcoti et al. took advantage of the pCP method to prepare patterned SAM of mercaptoundecanoic acid (MUA) for the binding of 2,2 -azobisisobutyramidine. Thermal SIP resulted in the topographical enhancement of the originally printed SAM structure with feature size of about 40 pm [219]. Also, the selective binding of thiols onto gold can be used for spatio-selective SIP. Dryer et al. [215] used gold... [Pg.408]

Spatio-selectivity. A particularly intriguing manifestation of steric hindrance in zeolite catalysts is what is called spatio-selectivity (or transition-state selectivity). The cages or channels may be large enough for the reactants and products, but not for the activated complexes (transition-state) via which some of the reactions must occur. An example of practical importance is the ability of H-ZMS-5 to isomerize xylenes while blocking the undesired disproportionation to toluene and trimethyl benzenes that proceeds through an activated complex with two benzene rings and accompanies isomerization on non-shape selective acidic catalysts [56],... [Pg.298]

The spatio-temporal variations of the concentration field in turbulent mixing processes are associated wdth very different conditions for chemical reactions in different parts of a reactor. This scenario usually has a detrimental effect on the selectivity of reactions when the reaction time-scale is small compared with the mixing time-scale. Under the same conditions (slow mixing), the process times are increased considerably. Due to mass transfer inhibitions, the true kinetics of a reaction does not show up instead, the mixing determines the time-scale of a process. This effect is known as mixing masking of reactions [126]. [Pg.47]

This chapter is organized as follows. We first present a short description of the criteria used for selecting the data used for driving the hydrological simulations at the basin scale. Subsequently, we briefly describe Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT), the hydrological model adopted for this study, and the setup thereof. Later on, we continue with a brief review of the main spatio-temporal patterns of climate,... [Pg.48]

Theoretically this phenomenon was studied in chains of self-oscillating cells with linear coupling [15]. The selection of a single frequency and formation of the phase waves was also shown in the Ginzburg-Landau equations which govern spatio-temporal dynamics near the Hopf bifurcation [16]. [Pg.402]
