Socket donning

In Figure 9-7 and Figure 9-8, we have the answer to all our prayers. I used it for a 600mA Buck IC project recently with excellent results. Finding a vendor for this socket is very difficult. So I decided to share the contact info of the only person I know doing this. It seems to be a one-man show, and these sockets are custom-made on demand. The second component is the Card Services software. This software is the interface between the application and Socket Services. This is the software that tells the applications which interrupts and I/O ports the card is using. Applications that need to access the PC card don t access the hardware directly. Instead, they tell Card Services that they need access to a particular feature and Card Services gets the appropriate feature from the PC card. 

Ball and socket joints are preferred for vacuum systems because (1) they don t freeze as easily as standard taper joints, and (2) they can be twisted and turned so the apparatus is less likely to break if bumped into. A ball and socket joint, a joint clamp, and the joint greasing technique are shown in Figure 6-17.

Hand-rectified PTB sockets for transtibial amputees involve donning a stockinet over the residual limb, identifying anatomic landmarks (patellar ligament, tibial flares, fibular head) with an ink pen, and casting the residual limb with plaster bandages. This cast is then removed and filled with plaster to create a positive model of the residual limb. The inked bony landmarks are thus transferred to this plaster model. The plaster model is then modified or rectified such that plaster is built up over areas of intended socket relief. A rasp is used to remove plaster over regions of preferential loading. The socket is then vacuum-formed or laminated over this modified plaster positive. 

Are the electrics safe to use Check the condition of power sockets, plugs, leads and equipment. (Don t use damaged items until they have been repaired.)...

Use the socket still connected to the cord to pull a length of slack cord up through the system—but don t pull it completely through yet ... 

KNOT THE WIRE. Slide the harp base (if used) and socket cap base over the new wire. Cut between the wires to separate about 3" of the end of the two-threaded wire. Strip about Vi" of insulation from each end. Because you don t want the weight of the wire pulling down against the connections, tie a knot in the wires that will be supported by the socket cap—this is called an underwriter s knot. Make a loop in each wire and then pass the end of each opposite strand through each loop. You should end with a high-profile knot that won t pull through the base of the socket cap.
