Soaps products, usage

Industrial processes for production of oils/fats and their related materials byproduce FFAs. Although parts of FFAs have been used as raw materials for producing paints, lubricants, and soaps, their oversupply has caused a decrease in the market price. An alternative usage is therefore desired to adjust to the... [Pg.64]

Boron is used as a reinforcing material for composites. It is used in the nuclear industry as a neutron absorber. Boron is used to harden metals and used as an oxygen scavenger for copper and other metals. Amorphous boron is used in pyrotechnic flares to produce a green color. Used as a catalyst in olefin polymerization and alcohol dehydration. The principal consumption pattern in the United States for boron is for the production of glass products with minor usage in the production of soaps and detergents. [Pg.331]

There are fom basic classifications of textile surfactants cationic, anionic, nonionic, and amphoteric [10]. Overall, usage is about 59% anionic (25% natural soaps, 34% synthetic), 33% nonionic, 7% cationic, and 1% amphoteric [36]. Alkylphenol ethoxylate (APE) surfactants are one of the largest groups of nonionic surfactants, accounting for over 400 million pounds per year in the United States [37]. These fom categories include major product types shown in Table 7.16 [10, 31, 37, 38],... [Pg.272]

The various kinds of soap chamber test were developed as rapid screening tests for evaluating the relative irritation potential of several surfactants or products. However, they do not simulate the normal usage of the test materials, and other tests procedures have been developed to be closer to realistic use conditions of the product by the consumer. [Pg.486]
