Snakes-in-the-grass

Snakes-in-the-grass, volcano snakes, etc., depend upon the use of ammonium dichromate. If this material in the form of a powder is made into a conical heap, and a flame applied to the top of it, a visible but not violent combustion proceeds through the mass, which boils up to form a large volume of green material resembling tea leaves.

Areas adjacent to the facility should receive proper housekeeping. Roadways should be in good repair well marked and lighted. The potential for fire exists in dry grass or weeds, so the control and clearing of these hazards should be a part of the plan. In addition, the existence of snakes is possible in tall weeds. A plan to eliminae snakes or other harmful animals or insects should be developed. 

The real world, of course, is more complicated than a simple food chain. While many organisms do specialize in their diets, other organisms do not. Hawks do not limit their diet to snakes, snakes eat things other than mice, mice eat grass as well as grasshoppers, and so on. A more realistic depiction of who...
