Slag-modified cement

Type S po22olan-modified Portland cement. Type I (PM) and slag-modified Portland cement. Type I (SM). 

There do not seem to be any particular requirements for the composition of the Portland cement employed. Ordinary Portland cement performs better than slag-modified Portland cement (Santos et al., 1999). The polyacrylamide polymer should also be available in a well-dispersed form, to facilitate processing. 

Ash is a chemically stable inorganic material. Thus, there is a potential for their application as a construction material. Possible applications of ashes reported in the literature include asphalt, cement concrete block, road construction, and melt slag (1-3). Recently, we carried out studies on the possible application of ashes from incinerated paper sludges for interlocking blocks. Acrylic latex was employed to improve the properties of cement mortar or concrete modified with ashes. Our results are partly reported in this paper. 

The examination of chemical composition of slag glass surface at the early age of hydration has shown that it is modified immediately after the contact with the Uquid phase [6]. As the result of incongment dissolution of slag grains on their surface the l er of C-S-H is formed, with, however, lower C/S ratio than in the Portland cement paste. When the hydration of slag is activated by alkalis, this phase contains the Na+ orK+ ions. 

Several measures have been proposed to improve the durability of GRC mortars. Blended cements have been used for modifying the microstructure of cement paste matrix in the vicinity of glass fibers. The effects of the incorporation of blastfurnace slag on fracture toughness of GRC mortar were...
