Skirts length

Steady skirt lengths increase with Re (B3, H5, W2). Wairegi (W2) and Bhaga (B3) also reported skirt lengths which increased with time. The length of steady skirts is controlled by a balance of viscous and capillary forces at the rim of the skirt (B3), whereas the length of wavy skirts appears to be determined by growth of Helmholtz instability waves (H5). [Pg.209]

The weight of nozzles and internals can be estimated at 5 to 10% of the sum of the shell and head weights. The weight of a skirt can be estimated as the same weight per foot as the shell with a length given by Equation 12-8 for an ellipsoidal head and Equation 12-9 for a conical head. [Pg.340]

Skirts and dresses should be of at least moderate length, reaching the knees. Dresses and skirts above the knees are considered inappropriate at all times, including dress-down days and other times of casual attire. [Pg.128]

A cell with a capacity of 1 L was made of mild steel. An amorphous carbon rod (diameter 25 mm length 15 cm) was used as anode, the inside wall of the cell as cathode and a platinum wire was used as reference electrode. The anode compartment of the cell was separated from the cathode compartment by a skirt of steel welded to the cell cover. The anode gas was passed through a tube filled with tablets of NaF to absorb anhyd HF gas and then led to a gas sampler. Fluorine was detected with K.I soln. After the starting material was added into the molten KIIF2/HF salt, the electrolyte was pre-electrolyzed at a low current density until NF2 was detected, and then current efficiency of each product and polarization curves by galvanostatic or potential sweep method were determined (Table 1). At optimum conditions the current efficiency of NF3 was 55%. [Pg.316]

Allow a 60 mm unperforated strip on the outer edge extending along the length of the downcomer and then skirting the baffle. [Pg.299]

Sunlight, movement, voices through the wall, traffic watches the dark girl dressing by the clothes rack at the foot of the bed, grey jacket over a full-length grey skirt. [Pg.147]

But the pipes fastened along the entire length of the eastern wall of Chamber III are skirted by intensely blue-pigmented plaster,44 as if they had acted, in a certain sense, as the catalyst for the formation of iron blue (ferric-ferrocyanide). In Chamber I, on the other hand, no traces of blue pigmentation are to be seen. [Pg.423]

Belts have been used successfully under slot openings as long as 30 m (100 ft), with a constant slot width of 205 mm (8 in). Provisions should be made for field adjustment of the space between the skirt and the belt to provide uniform flow along the entire length. Since the minimum distance between the skirt and the belt should allow the largest particle to pass under, very long belt feeders are limited to the finer solids. [Pg.1698]

Circulation is promoted by the difference in static heads of supply liquid and the column of partially vaporized material. The exit weight fraction vaporized should be in the range of 0.1-0.35 for hydrocarbons and 0.02-0.10 for aqueous solutions. Circulation may be controlled with a valve in the supply line. The top tube sheet often is placed at the level of the liquid in the tower. The flow area of the outlet piping commonly is made the same as that of all the tubes. Tube diameters of 19-25 mm diameter are used, lengths up to 12 ft or so, but some 20 ft tubes are used. Greater tube lengths make for less ground space but necessitate taller tower skirts. [Pg.201]

For a cyhndrical skirt of normal length welded to the bottom head, the critical stress will usually be the shear value of the weld. The code allows a stress in shear of 45% of the stress in tension. Thus, allowable stress in the weld for A-283 Gr. C plate is... [Pg.142]

A vertical reboiler has very little piping and its length determines the height of the tower skirt. Supports at grade are saved but supports on the tower must be added. [Pg.196]

Medusa-like CyDs are obtained by grafting hydrophobic groups, aliphatic chains with length between C4 and Cig, to all the primary hydroxyls of the CyD molecule [66-68]. Skirt-shaped CyDs consist of and y-CyDs grafted with aliphatic esters or amides (C2 to C14) on the secondary face [69-72]. [Pg.437]

In Condeep structures three dowels of diameter 2.5 m and length 4 to 5 m below the tip of the steel skirts touch the seafloor first. These dowels are provided in order to prevent the structure from moving laterally when the steel skirts themselves reach the seafloor. When the steel skirts have penetrated 3.5 m into the soil, the concrete skirts come into contact, and after a further 0.5 m penetration the undersides of the concrete domes touch the seafloor. The skirts serve a number of functions in the design ... [Pg.415]
