In comparing the sketch maps of the two cities drawn by the international student sample, Son and Pearce (2003) noted a number of differences. [Pg.102]

Landmarks take on a greater importance in the sketch maps of Sydney than is the case in Melbourne where the students sketch maps have more paths or routes. Districts or areas too are more commonly reported in the Sydney sketch maps. The kinds of sketch maps produced by the students are illus-... [Pg.103]

The affected area is surveyed by ground surveys, aerial reconnaissance, or aerial videos. Usually all three methods are combined. The team completes observations and measurements on a segment, produces a sketch map of the site, and fills in forms or checklists of observations on the site. During the field work, the SCAT team documents the distribution and character of stranded oil, the amount and location of subsurface oil, shoreline characteristics, and the character of the substrate. Ecological and human resources in the segment are documented. [Pg.169]

In an attempt to explain these objectively high values, we checked all the information for the area in our database and we have singled out a likely reason for these anomalous samples. The sketch map of Fig. 7 indicates both the fault system and the thermal springs present in the north-western part of Siena County, as well as the sites of the highest blood levels for Hg (and also Sb). There is an obvious close spatial correspondence among all these elements. [Pg.500]

Fig 7.3 Sketch maps showing (A) the occurrences of the testate amoebae Apodera vas and (B) Certesella spp. along a Mesoamerican transect between Panama and the south of Mexico. Black dots indicate new records while the white dot represents the Apodera vas record published by Golemansky (1967). The records published by Laminger (1973) were not reported on this map because of the lack of accurate coordinates. Details of sites are given in Table 7.1. [Pg.121]
