Sizing agents cellulose

Acetylating and dehydrating agent used in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries for the manufacture of cellulose acetate, for textile sizing agents and cold bleaching activators, for polishing metals and for the production of brake fluids, dyes, explosives. 

Chemical Characteristics of Paper Documents. From the earliest times up to the present day, the substances used as vehicles for writing have been numerous. Ancient paper documents were basically made from rags of cotton and linters cellulose is the major chemical constituent (I). Modern papers, however, are made of wood fibers, which usually are composed of cellulose, hemicelluloses, and lignin (I). In addition, for most of the modern papers, fillers, sizing agents, and other additives are used to improve paper properties (I). 

The earliest claim, before the development of the electrolytic process, was for the use of oxystarch as a textile sizing-agent because of its alkali-lability, it could easily be removed from the yarn. Another use in textiles is for a highly alkali-soluble lace-backing from periodate-oxidized, cyano-ethylated-cellulose textiles. Because of its aldehydic character, oxystarch has been claimed as a useful tanning agent. - Oxystarches (D.O. 40-...

OTHER COMMENTS used as a local anesthetic used in the manufacture of silicones, methyl cellulose, quaternary amines, and agricultural chemicals also used as a food additive, dispersing agent, thickening agent, sizing agent, and an adhesive use as a catalyst carrier at lower temperatures. 

A variety of cellulose textile materials were studied using FT-IR/PAS In our laboratory. The distribution of sizing agents and finishing agents in cotton yarns and fabrics was determined. The results of these investigations are presented here.
