Heitz et al. (33) also described the preparation of polyvinyl acetate cross-linked with butanediol divinyl ether. The polymer is the base of the Merckogel series of size exclusion chromatography packings, and its hydrolyzed derivative, polyvinyl alcohol, is marketed as Fractogel and Toyopearls. 

The evolution of media covering aqueous and nonaqueous systems on the one hand and analytical as well as microscale and macroscale preparative applications on the other hand has resulted in an arbitrarily nomenclature within the field. ANALYTICAL AND PREPARATIVE COLUMNS FOR AQUEOUS SIZE EXCLUSION CHROMATOGRAPHY OF POLYSACCHARIDES... 

The suspension of influenza virus, strain A/X-53, was separated from the constituents of alantoic fluid by preparative size exclusion chromatography on a 10 x 120 cm column. The hemo-agglutination method revealed an elevated level (93%) of viral activity. The leakage of the bonded phases can be more efficiently minimized, however, with the use of positively charged polymers. 

Chemically attached copolymers of iV-vinylpyrrolidone (N-VP) and N-(2-hydroxyethyl)acrylamide (N-HEAA) steeply decrease the inherent glass adsorp-tivity which is observed for proteins in aqueous buffer solutions. We report here the results of our recent studies of poly(alkyl/arylphosphazenes) with particular emphasis on the following areas (1) the overall scope of, and recent improvements in, the condensation polymerization method (2) the characterization of a representative series of these polymers by dilute solution techniques (viscosity, membrane osmometry, light scattering, and size exclusion chromatography), thermal analysis (TGA and DSC), NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction (3) the preparation and preliminary thermolysis reactions of new, functionalized phosphoranimine monomers and (4) the mechanism of the polymerization reaction.
