Randomised controlled trial In a multinational phase 3b/4 study of sirolimus conversion in cardiac transplant recipients with renal insufficiency, the most common side effects noted were peripheral oedema 31.6%, diarrhoea 28.1%, rash 28.1%, dyspnoea 12.3%, abdominal pain 14%, aphthous stomatitis 14%, hypertension 12.3% and arthralgia, acne, hypercholesterolaemia, hyperlipidaemia, mouth ulcers and anaemia, all 10.5% each [37 ]. [Pg.594]

In a retrospective study of 25 paediatric renal transplant patients on sirolimus, side effects noted in descending order (4 2%) for each were hyperlipidaemia, proteinuria, anaemia, interstitial pnemnonia, nasal acneiform lesions, lower extremity oedema and hypokalaemia [42 ]. [Pg.595]

Cardiovascular In a case report, a renal transplant patient treated with sirolimus developed pericardial tamponade associated with interstitial pnemnonia, proteinuria and microcytic anaemia. No other causes were found and all symptoms disappeared 1 month after sirolimus interruption [47 ]. [Pg.595]
