Sintering Techniques to Produce Products from Rubber Crumb

5 Sintering Techniques to Produce Products from Rubber Crumb [Pg.168]

The use of high-pressure sintering processes to consolidate rubber crumb (often waste tyre crumb) into new rubber products has been evaluated by a number of workers and has been carried out for many [Pg.168]

One of the attractions of sintering processes for re-using waste rubber is that they can be relatively simple and cost-effective, as they require [Pg.169]

One of the primary goals of the project was to see if the technique could be used to produce materials that were of a sufficiently high quality to be used to manufacture commercial items such as shoe soles. Overall, the project made good progress towards its goals, and some of the salient points that were established included  [Pg.170]

As the Cryosinter project members and other researchers have found, adding chemical agents to the rubber crumb prior to the sintering process is usually necessary in order to achieve the best results in the final product. A number of different types of chemical agent have been evaluated for the sintering of rubber particles  [Pg.171]
