Sintered porous inserts

The heat transfer and pressure drop in a rectangular channel with sintered porous inserts, made of stainless steels of different porosity, were investigated. The experimental set-up is shown in Fig. 2.9. Heat fluxes up to 6MW/m were removed by using samples with a porosity of 32% and an average pore diameter of 20 pm. Under these experimental conditions, the temperature difference between the wall and the bulk water did not exceed AT = 55 K at a pressure drop of AP = 4.5 bars (Hetsroni et al. 2006a). [Pg.18]

Compact, ready-prepared calomel electrodes are available commercially and find wide application especially in conjunction with pH meters and ion-selective meters. A typical electrode is shown in Fig. 15.1(h). With time, the porous contact disc at the base of the electrode may become clogged, thus giving rise to a very high resistance. In some forms of the electrode the sintered disc may be removed and a new porous plate inserted, and in some modern electrodes an ion exchange membrane is incorporated in the lower part of the electrode which prevents any migration of mercury(I) ions to the sintered disc and thus... [Pg.552]

Venting can also be provided within the mold cavity by means of inserts equiped with vent slots, porous sintered plugs, or by holes with a diameter not greater than 0.2 mm. Such holes are machined only to a shallow depth and are relieved by a much larger bore machined from the back of the mold. [Pg.306]

The CO, temperature control can be used in conventional steel molds as well as with inserts made from porous sintered material, which mainly consists of steel (TOOLVAC ). When using sintered steel, the liquid CO, flows through the capillary tubes into the expansion chamber. In the gaseous state, the CO, penetrates into the porous materiai and flows, due to the gas pressure, and is uniformly distributed over the core up to the cavity surface. There, heat can be directly withdrawn from the moided part. [Pg.421]

La,Sr)(Fe,Co)03-5 /Ceo.8Gdo.202-5 interfaces in IT-SOFC. This implies that further optimization of the system (Ni content in perovskite, insertion of nanocomposite perovskite-apatite interlayer between porous LSFN cathode and dense electrolyte) and sintering temperature is needed. [Pg.99]
