Sintered metal fibre media

Sintered metal fibre media are made from long fibres of controlled diameters from 2 pm upwards such media retain the high porosity characteristic of beds of fibres, as illusbated in Table 2.18 where some example properties of Bekipor media are listed. The porosity of these fibre sinters is about twice that of powder sinters, giving a much lower resistance to flow the method of manufacture usually also leads to a narrower pore size distribution. [Pg.117]

Metal media are mostly supplied in sintered form, since any materials that escape from the medium would be quite harmful downstream. Sintered metal fibres have a... [Pg.63]

The metal cartridges described above are based on metal powders, but it should be noted that sintered metal cartridges are also available made from metal fibre and wire mesh. Both materials are sintered to give the necessary integrity of the medium (and, in the case of wire mesh, to maintain the precision of the apertures formed in the mesh when it was woven). Wire mesh elements are usually pleated and used for the thin media tasks described earlier, while sintered mesh cartridges operate by... [Pg.166]
