Single-screw plasticating extruders are different because they are not directly fed with a melted polymer but with solid pellets or powders (Fig. 3.1). Plasticating extruders can be divided into three zones ...

The process of film extrusion by the film-blowing method was conducted on a Une specially designed for film manufacture in the Department of Food Process Engineering, Lubhn University of life Science (PL), based on a single-screw plastic extruder of L/D = 35 (Figure 9.1). The Une was produced by SAVO Ltd Co., Poland. 

Shear stresses at a sliding interface and the melting fluxes for LDPE, ABS, HIPS, and LLDPE were reported at a pressure of 0.7 MPa and as a function of temperature and velocity. These data contribute to the better understanding of the solids conveying and melting processes in single-screw, plasticating extruders.
