Mechanical seals single

O-rings and other secondary seals on single mechanical seals. 

The single mechanical seal is made of a rotating element fixed to the shaft (or shaft sleeve), and a stationary element fixed to the pump casing [16].

Fig. 19.5 was developed with cost data provided by a pump manufacturer and should cover the most frequently used pumps in chemical plants up to 100 hp. The base curves represent 316 SS horizontal ANSI pumps with TEFC motors and a single mechanical seal. 

Published pump efficiencies are generally based on the use of single mechanical seals during efficiency testing. If double seals are specified, the efficiency of the pump will be lower than that shown by the efficiency curves.

There are three types of mechanical seals ng e, double, and landcm. The double mechanical seal has two mechanical seals mounted back to back. The tandem mechanical seal consists two mechanical seals mounted in series. Double and tandem mechanical seals arc more effective than the single mechanical seal.
