Simple Delay

It is very useful to synchronize the Simple Delay effect with the tempo and beat of a project. See the previous discussion on Calculating Rates in the General FX Controls section of this chapter for information about how to calculate and synchronize this effect with a project. 

The Smooth/Enhance plug-in is a very special case of an equalization plug-in. It is carefully tuned to eliminate (smooth) some of the artifacts caused by other processes and effects or by problems with the source audio. 

The other use is to quickly brighten up a track (enhance), especially one that has been softened with any number of other effects. One example might be a track that has been compressed to make it a bit louder in a mix. This can sometimes result in a flatter, less lively sound. Another notable example is when down sampling. Down sampling is the process of changing the sample rate from, say, an audio CD at 44,100 Hz to 11,025 Hz for distribution over the Internet. The Smooth Enhance plug-in has one simple Operation slider that is used to control the effect.

The second term corresponds to a simple delay and can be generated by air propagation. The third and higher terms are specific of propagation through material. They induce pulse spreading for optical telecommunications and degradation of the interferences contrast in the frame of interferometry. 

The first term represents inverted z magnetization, the starting point for a transient NOE experiment. All we have to do is add a mixing period (simple delay rm) and a 90° read pulse, and we have a 2D NOE experiment NOESY. For the COSY experiment, we start... 

The authors suggested that the skin manifestations had been due to graft-versus-host disease triggered by the contrast medium and not a type-IV immunological reaction. It is much less efficient to implement a chain of all-pass filters than a simple delay line. But for weak stiffiiess it is possible that only a few all-pass sections will provide a good frequency-dependent delay. The direct sound and the first order reflections (bouncing off of only one surface) are shown in Figure 12.10, but there would be many second, third, and higher order reflections as well. These individual paths can be modeled as simple delay lines, with attenuation due to the spherical sound waves...

Next in line would be the modulation-type effects, such as the Amplitude Modulation FX and the FlangerAVah-wah/Phaser FX. This would also be the time to add delay effects like Chorus, Delay, Multi-Tap Delay, and Simple Delay. 

Reverb is a delay-type effect and is similar in many ways to the Simple Delay and Multi-Tap Delay FX. You can immediately see from the plug-in window that Reverb has many more controls to subtly adjust the delay and potentially make it sound more natural. On the track level.
