Silver borate

Silver Tetrafluoroborate. Silver tetrafluoroborate [14104-20-2], AgBF, is formed from silver borate and sodium borofluoride or bromine trifluoride. It is soluble in organic solvents. 

A variety of transition and other metal borates are reported in the literature. These include manganese borate, silver borate, iron borate, copper borate, nickel borate, strontium borate, lead borate, zirconium borate, double metal borates, and so on. Many of these borates have the potential to be flame retardants and/or smoke suppressants. 

Silver borate, AgB02.—A solution of borax reacts with one of silver nitrate to precipitate the white metaborate, AgB02. It is also produced by dissolving silver monoxide in boric acid, an equilibrium being attained. Conversely, water causes partial hydrolysis of silver borate to silver monoxide and boric acid.6... 

Attempts to separate oxygen from muriatic acid were unsuccessful. When dry silver muriate (AgCl) was heated with charcoal, no reaction occurred until steam was passed over the mixture, when silver, carbon dioxide and muriatic acid gas were formed. On heating a mixture of silver muriate, dry boric acid (B2O3) and charcoal, no reaction occurred until steam was passed, when muriatic acid was abundantly evolved, silver borate and carbon dioxide being the other products. By heating lime and potassium oxide in oxymuriatic gas, Gay-Lussac and Thenard obtained muriates and oi gen gas by heatup them in muriatic acid gas, they obtained R ter and muriates only.
