Silane-containing coupling agent

ZnO influences the characteristics of a compound twofold Primarily, ZnO influences the kinetics of the silica-silane reaction. Secondly, ZnO enhances the scorching behavior of a sulfur-containing coupling agent. This effect is clearly visible when looking at the G at 100% strain and the 300% modulus. 

This modification is connected with a reversed use of the silane (siloxane) coupling agents. On the other hand, the hydrosilylation reaction is commonly applied as a method of crosslinking organic polymers containing vinyl and allyl groups with siloxanes and polysiloxanes with Si-H functionality (e. g., [27]).

Another interesting innovation is that developed by the Malaysian Rubber Producers Research Association. In this case the coupling agent is first joined to a natural rubber molecule involving an ene molecular reaction. The complex group added contains a silane portion which subsequently couples to filler particles when these are mixed into the rubber. 

In a fume hood, dissolve the organosilane coupling agent containing chloro-, amino-, or methoxysilane reactive groups in toluene, THF, or a hydrocarbon solvent at a concentration of 5 percent silane.
