Sieving, for particle sizing

The particle size distribution of coarse abrasive materials (5 mm-50 pm) is determined by sieving. For particle sizes less than 50 pm, sedimentation and laser diffraction methods are used. [Pg.735]

Sieving is basically a very simple and justifiably popular particle sizing technique, but the precautions necessary to produce reliable data do not appear to be widely appreciated. Some of the more important points to note about the use of standard test sieves for particle size analysis are as follows. [Pg.68]
