Europe The ELSAM/EDB project for a 100 kWe Siemens-Westinghouse SOFC field unit has operated from January 1998. The unit will operate until January 2000 with a total of 17,500 test hours according to the plan. [Pg.340]

The MCFC is suitable for integration with gas turbines, and Japanese studies of this topic are extensive. But there are no prototypes as for the SOFC (Siemens Westinghouse). Two figures taken from Chapters 4 and 5 are reproduced below for the reader s convenience. The first figure (Figure 1.2) is the Siemens Westinghouse SOFC/gas turbine integration scheme. [Pg.36]

All the SOFC competitors seek to compete by overcoming the operational limitations of the Siemens Westinghouse SOFC, and a new competitor, Acumentries Inc., has appeared, to exploit the small-tube SOFC, introduced in Figure 4.8. (See web site list.)... [Pg.83]

TOTO have adopted another method of cell fabrication - that of wet-sintering. The aim of this is to overcome the cost of the EVD process. Although much progress has been made with this recently, the Siemens Westinghouse SOFC design remains the most advanced of the tubular SOFC types. Figures 7.26 and 7.28 show stacks built up of tubular fuel cells and Figure 7.29 shows a 100-kW demonstration that has been built and operated in the Netherlands. [Pg.216]

The ejector is the simplest of all types of pumps. It has no moving parts. They are widely used in hydrogen fuel cells where the hydrogen is stored at pressure. In some Siemens Westinghouse SOFCs, they are used to recirculate the fuel gas. They harness the stored mechanical energy in the gas to circulate the fuel around the ceU. [Pg.326]
