Showing increase in signal intensity

From a mass spectrometry perspective, the pump must be pulse free, i.e. it must deliver the mobile phase at a constant flow rate. Pulsing of the flow causes the total ion current (TIC) trace (see Chapter 3) - the primary piece of information used for spectral analysis - to show increases in signal intensity when analytes are not being eluted and this makes interpretation more difficult. 

Figure 3.4.16 shows one-dimensional DHK-SPRITE profiles of lithium penetrating into dry mortar. In addition to the determination of the penetration depth of lithium shown at various times, there is an overall increase in signal intensity at a given point, which is attributed to the filling of the various pore sizes in time. Acute hepatitis In the early stages of the disease, the T2-scan shows an increase in signal intensity, whereas a prolongation of Ti tends to be observed before the occurrence of liver cell necrosis. 

When samples of unetched film were heated under vacuum above 250 C, additional unpaired spins were produced. Figure 3 shows kinetic plots for the thermally induced increase in spin concentration at four different temperatures. The ordinate is the relative ESR signal intensity, N /N, where the subscripts refer to the film before (o) and after heating for time t. After an initial rapid increase in signal intensity, the rate levels off to a constant value at each temperature. The slopes of the straight-line portions of the kinetic plots were used to obtain the Arrhenius plot shown in Figure 4, from which an activation energy of 68 16 kcal/ mole was calculated for the thermal production of unpaired spins. 

Initially MRC should be read in the multiplanar reformation mode, scrolling through the contrast-enhanced 3D data set in all three orthogonal planes. Whenever a mass protruding from the colonic wall is detected, the identical part of the colon should be analysed on the pre-contrast scan. Increase in signal intensity within the mass can aid in differentiating between residual stool particles and colorectal lesions while colorectal lesions always show strong enhancement, residual stools never show any contrast uptake (Fig. 17.8b,c). 

A platinum (0.05 wt%)-impregnated ETS-lO(Cs) sample showed spectra similar to that of ETS- 10(Cs) (g... < gxx. gyy). except that the Ti3+ signal intensity increased by a factor of about 2.4 compared with that of the ETS-lO(Cs) sample. Although the reduction in Ti3+ intensity by Cs is attributed to greater stabilization of Ti4+ ions by the more basic and larger Cs atoms, the increase in the intensity induced by platinum is attributed to better activation of the reductant molecules (H2) by platinum and the consequently greater reduction of Ti4+ to Ti3+. In other words, both cesium and platinum influence the reducibility...
