Shorting Plate

The waxes consist of both cyclic and paraffin hydrocarbons. At similar melting points, the waxes have a much higher molecular weight than paraffin waxes and are less stable. Ceresine waxes have a very delicate crystalline structure, with fine needle or short plate crystals. Properly constituted blends of ceresine and paraffin waxes have a dense microcrystalline structure. 

In applications where the DoD is shallow ( 20%) and the ambient temperature is moderate (<35°C), AGM batteries can be used. These should, however, have short plates (below 20 cm in height), and/or be operated with their plate-groups in a horizontal orientation to avoid stratification. (Note, operating the batteries in this orientation should be verified by the manufacturer to ensure that the warranty is not rendered invalid.)... 

Immediately pour the acrylamide solution into the casting chamber, filling it until the solution is approximately 3 mm from the top of the short plate. 

D15. Repeat Problem 15.D12 with q = 0.000005 m /s, but with a 0.01 m long vertical plate. Note that the theory assumes fully developed laminar flow that is unlikely with a very short plate. Thus, the results will be suspect.

With regard to the short-plate apron conveyor it is necessary, because of the close overlap of the plates, to have a minimum radius of 20m on vertical curves in the conveying path. The "buckle-plate" (convex-plate) apron conveyor is similar in construction. It is especially suitable for sticky materials because its plates dispose themselves in a circular arc on passing round the chain wheel, enabling the adhering material to be scraped off easily. 

Attempt to leant the resistance of each switch. Some systems require the operator to install a shorting plate over all test points, and the system then learns the sum of the switch resistances plus contact resistances to this plate. Note that this technique can actually add error if a high contact resistance value is learned for a particular test point, perhaps due to dirt on a probe. The excessive resistance value learned is subtracted from all subsequent measurements made with that probe, masking some high product resistances. The net result is a slightly increased possibility of passing a board that should be failed.
