Sharp, Phillip

Many computer and other IT device makers offer take-back programs even where not mandated by law. In the USA, Apple, Sony, Sharp, Mitsubishi, Samsung, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, LG, Lenovo, Panasonic, and Toshiba have free collection point or mail-in take-back programs of their products. Apple and Hewlett-Packard provide some form of payment for the value of the taken-back item. Other companies, Hitachi, Phillips, and Funai, do not now have take-backs [23].

It is easily seen that there must be a discontinuity in slope of the P-Cygni line profiles at a frequency corresponding to the velocity of the matter at the photosphere, if the photosphere is sharp. However, as Branch (1980) has shown, this discontinuity is most easily observed if the line Sobolev optical depth Tjj <5, in which case the break appears at the frequency of maximum absorption. Using the results of Blanco et al. (1987) and Phillips (1987) [assuming that the LMC velocity had been removed], we do indeed find that the weakest lines (Fell X5018, Fell X5169,...

There will be a relatively free market and soon the control price will become a ceiling and the market will be trading under that ceiling. But at the moment, that sharp, almost exponential curve is a natural response to the release from the ridiculously low wellhead price control that has been put on natural gas by the Federal Power Commission following the Phillips decision of 1954.

Energy-dependent (but not state-dependent) lifetime and quantum yield data are available for some of the more complex carbonyls. With reference to those molecules for which the appropriate data do exist, it can be seen in Table 11 that the radiative lifetime is virtually unaffected over a wide range of energies. This is in sharp contrast to the observed behavior of formaldehyde. The tr values for acetone might be less reliable than the others listed they are calculated using the fluorescence lifetime data of Breuer and Lee (42) and the fluorescence quantum yield data of Heicklen (105). It can be seen that there is no substantial change in tr the apparent (perhaps the real) trend is in the direction opposite that observed for formaldehyde. The values for perfluorocyclobutanone have been calculated using the rp and relative quantum yield values of Lewis and Lee (141) and the absolute fluorescence yield of 0.021 as measured by Phillips (187) as a standard. 

Effect of Heat. The thermal decompn is said to be sharp at 510° to give K chloride and O (Ref 7). Bircumshaw Phillips, however, state that the decompn is complicated and irreproducible in a vacuum, with Cl as well as 0 and K chloride being formed (Ref 8)... 

Phillips research grade hydrocarbons and Matheson s nitrous oxide were purified as described previously. Deuteriopropane from Merck Sharp and Dohme Co. (Montreal, Canada) was passed through a H2SO4-P2O6 mixture to remove olefins and through a KOH trap to remove any acid spray. It was then thoroughly degassed. 

Constraining the inversion to a smooth solution as given by Phillips -Tikhonov - Twomey Eq. (19) has been proven to be very efficient in numerous applications, e.g. [1, 13, 35-40]. In contrast to Eqs. (20, 23-24) where the solution a is constrained to the actual values of a priori estimates a, Eq. (19) constrains only differences (derivatives) between elements of retrieved vector a and does not restrict their values. Therefore, smoothing constraints may be preferable in applications where a priori magnitudes of unknowns are uncertain. For example, a smooth behavior with no sharp oscillations can naturally be expected for atmospheric characteristic y x) such as the size distributions of aerosol concentrations. This has a polypropylene (PP) seat, with welded tubular-steel legs. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the four screws that attach seat to the legs. These self-tapping screws (Fig. 1.5) with sharp, widely spaced threads, are much longer than the typical 4 mm thick seat. When screwed into a moulded cylindrical boss on the hidden side of the seat, the threads cut grooves in the initially smooth plastic. It is supported by four or more buttresses, to prevent bending loads causing failure, where the boss joins the seat. Measure the thickness of the buttresses.
