Shadow level

We discern "satellite" and "shadow" levels. "Satellite," contrary to "shadow," includes only those complex states in which the initial level also takes part, elg. 3s"l3p 4p is a "satellite" of 3s . )This is considered together with M.Yu. Kuchiev and S.A. Sheinerman. [Pg.294]

Pad Stains. More progressive or higher end furniture finishers add color or pad stains to enhance grain patterns, produce shadows, and create hues found only in exceptionally fine veneers and woods. These pads are appHed at varying levels to create the illusion of the third dimension. [Pg.339]

What we see is that Mathematica has plotted the functions, fitted them with surfaces, placed a grid on the fitted surfaces and enhanced them with gray-level shadowing. All of this was done by routine operation in a default mode, that is, with a minimum of input from us. Here too we could spend time further enhancing these graphs, but instead we shall move on to the next subject. [Pg.30]

The electrodes designed for permanent installation on deep-water structures must be protected from damage but must also correctly view the protected structure. Thus electrodes must be closely placed to the structure to avoid the incorporation of an IR element in the potential measured, but must not create a protection shadow which could cause a false indication of the protection level. [Pg.257]

Use common sense when planting trees. Look at the sun s position during the day, and imagine where the shadows will be. Make sure your favorite breakfast corner will not be thrown into deep shade in the morning. Remember that tree roots will spread beyond the crown of the tree, affecting moisture and nutrient levels in the soil in the surrounding area. [Pg.155]

The diameters of the pores of the surface layer of Loeb-Sourlrajan-type cellulose acetate membranes have been reported by several authors (1-6). The reported values of the diameters cover the range between 10 A and 60 A. For electron microscopic observations, the replication method must be used. In order to obtain the excellently contrasted Images the surface of the sample Is shadowed with heavy metals In vacuum. In many cases the Pt-Pd alloy has been used as a pre-shadowlng metal. But the resolution of the Pt-Pd replica Is at the level of about 50 A, since the size of the evaporated particles Is between 20 X and AO X (7, 8, 9). If the pore sizes are In the range of the above-mentioned level, we cannot observe them. [Pg.247]

Figures 3 and A show the highly magnified electron micrographs of both evaporated tungsten and Pt-Pd alloy. The size of Pt-Pd alloy evaporated particles is at the level of about 50 -100 A and that of tungsten, about 3 - 5 A. So the resolution of the tungsten pre-shadowed replica may be at the level of about 15 - 20 A.
