Sex appeal

The gimlet s logic seems clear to me gin or vodka, with Rose s Lime Juice and fresh lime juice in equal parts, shaken or stirred until ice cold and served straight up in a stemmed cocktail glass that is confident but not proud of its sex appeal. A standard martini glass...

Then there were the women from elsewhere. The tall European ladies like Dominique Sanda, mannish in grey flannels in The Conformist, or Charlotte Rampling whose sex appeal only widened with maturity. The occasional male like Johnny Depp or the Querelle Brad Davis with whom traffic would be a man. traffic without a video player would borrow old movies and take them around to Jimi s where from the couch both could dream of loving the lightborne characters of film. 

So, although a group of cuticular hydrocarbons, especially 7,11-dienes, are sex attractants, they do not seem to be the only compounds which function in this role. Although the threshold of 7,11-HD is of the order of one or a few nanograms, it has not been firmly established with accurate methods. Indeed young flies of either sex have hydrocarbon with little or no 7,11-dienes (see section 9.3), which are full of sex appeal (Jallon and Hotta, 1979 P6chin6 et al., 1988). In fact, the nature of the synergetic factor involved in sex attraction and its interaction with chemical factors is not completely clear (Savarit et al., 1999 Rouault et al., 2002).

Sex appeal is a matter of chemistry, but you don t have to be a chemist to find the formula. 

A mostly flat 35 square miles of scrub-covered limestone puddled with salt ponds, Anguilla derives her considerable sex appeal from working what she s got 33 spectacular beaches. Whitewashed, Mediterranean-style luxury resorts like Cap Juluca, Cove Castles and CuisinArt rise above the bleach-white sand to strike poses against blue sea and sky, attracting a tony, celebrity-studded clientele. And the quality of restaurants...
