Seven-ion sea water

On this assumption, and the further one that the anhydrous ammonium salt is dissolved in filtered sea water to form the regenerant solution, another material balance was made. Seven ion exchange stages are required the first five use sea water regenerant, and the last two, fresh water regenerant. (If the product water from such a plant and the anhydrous ammonium bicarbonate distillate are used to make up all fresh water regenerant, insufficient water is produced for the in-plant requirements of regeneration make-up.) Table IV is a summary of the material balance thus developed. [Pg.191]
