Serological development

Cenital herpes simplex virus. Characterized by vesicular or ulcerative lesions. Diagnosis confirmed by virologic or serologic testing. Prodrome manifests as pain, burning, or itching at the site where lesions will develop. 

Bacterial plant pathogens are usually identified by microscopic observation and comparison of the symptoms on the plant with published descriptions and photographs, but various rapid serological and molecular methods are now being developed for plant disease diagnosis.16,17...

The present discussion will be concerned mainly with the chemistry of these polymers. For reasons of space, and because of the rapid rate of development of the subject, the equally important topic of serological behavior and significance of teichoic acids is not discussed in detail. 

A 65-year-old woman developed fatigue, jaundice, and altered liver function tests while taking atorvastatin (20 mg/day for some weeks) (14). On the basis of clinical, serological, and histological findings, a diagnosis of autoimmune hepatitis was made. 

Cholestatic hepatitis developed in a 71-year-old man with nephrotic syndrome (2). Hepatic function was normal after several months of fluvastatin 20 mg/day. Some weeks after the dose was increased to 40 mg/day, his gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase activity rose from normal to 1818 IU/1, with negative serology for viruses. After normalization, re-introduction of fluvastatin 20 mg/day was not tolerated, but he did tolerate simvastatin 20 mg/day.
